Our Story

Born from a dream,
built by a community.

Dreamers HTX started with a simple belief: Houston's South Asian community deserves a stage of its own — and the world deserves to hear what it has to say.

How It Started

A vision for South Asian stories on the Houston stage

Dreamers HTX was founded with a singular purpose: to create a space where South Asian artists in Houston could make work that reflects their full humanity — not just the pieces that fit neatly into mainstream narratives.

Our founder, a Muslim artist rooted in both South Asian tradition and contemporary American theatre, built Dreamers HTX as a home for stories that bridge cultures, languages, and generations. We believe that the most powerful art happens when people see themselves on stage — and invite others to look.

We're fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas, a national nonprofit arts service organization, which means every donation to Dreamers HTX is fully tax-deductible.

What We Stand For

Our values, on and off the stage

Authenticity First

We tell stories on our own terms. No stereotypes, no exoticism — just honest, specific, beautifully complicated human stories from South Asian perspectives.

Radical Inclusion

Our stage is open. We actively cultivate space for artists across genders, generations, religions, and national backgrounds within the South Asian diaspora.

Community Roots

We are Houstonians first. Our work is shaped by this city — its heat, its diversity, its sprawl — and we give back to it through free workshops and accessible programming.

Craft & Excellence

Community doesn't mean compromising quality. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of artistic craft while keeping our doors wide open to new voices.
